I still marvel that I used to blog with any regular frequency…lately it seems like such a novelty, like, “Oh! Hey! I could blog about that!” So here’s the latest:
1. I will be in Washington, DC, next week for a couple of days. Full details in last month’s blog post (below). I haven’t been there in about ten years—any recommendations for something new and different I should see?
2. I am working furiously on a ghostwriting project that has me researching tons of different things, but most recently American history in the 1970s. As part of my research, I watched a few documentaries (all available on Netflix) which I totally recommend: The Source Family; Pumping Iron; and Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Wander. At first I was just casting about for a general “feel” of the 1970s, and I thought these three would offer a nice variety. And then the themes all kind of wove together: the driving force of individuals with compelling personalities; the desire for an understanding of what makes us “human”; and something that I can’t quite put my finger on, but that has to do with this human insistence to “seek” which often manifests itself through manipulation and control—whether it be through art, fashion, spirituality, or our own bodies. So, butterflies and zebras as usual here in my brain lol!
Mira has kindly offered to give away two (2) advance ebooks to my readers *waves to Mom*. Please leave a quick comment about how amazing it is that Mira has four young kids and a husband and a dog and still finds time to write lots of books and bake lots of brownies (and do all that abdominal research for her heroes). I’ll pick two winners and send you the NetGalley coupon code next week. Also, the first book in this series, TRUTH OR DARE, is on sale right now for 99c, so you should grab it.
4. Lots of other fun stuff has been happening, but I can’t remember much because I’m focused on either writing or trying to cut carbohydrates out of my diet (which has me feeling like Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon):
6. Lastly, what are you doing for Valentine’s Day? I hope it involves lots of kissing!
